Caught between

Sometimes life seems so full of opposing forces that push us on and pull us back.  We get caught in the gap between who we were and who we can be.  Drifting hopelessly.  I think these lyrics by Joseph Arthur from one of my favourite songs express this so well for me.

I picture you in the sun wondering what went wrong
And falling down on your knees asking for sympathy
And being caught in between all you wish for and all you seen
And trying to find anything you can feel that you can believe in

I know I would apologize if I could see your eyes
cause when you showed me myself I became someone else
But I was caught in between all you wish for and all you need
I picture you fast asleep
A nightmare comes
You cant keep awake

Who, what or why on earth is Wales

I guess it’s my job to muse and try to see if we can agree who we are, what we stand for and what we can become.  You soon realise that there are more points of view than their are sheep amongst us. We all have different feelings and often contradictory views on this.  These are often tabloided, manifestoed or yn gymraeg-ed.  But sometimes they are turned to poetry, song, hwyl and butty banter. And they are things we can all (probably) agree are being welsh.

Here are the thoughts of one amongst us who softly screams and darkly whispers  a few of the damned truths behind our comfortable lies.

Easter

Easter came early this year. This meant it came cold too. A bit too early and a bit too cold for me.  This Easter really was one for staying in and eating chocolate. A big thumbs up for me though. After six long weeks my broke thumb seems to have healed. The trusty plastic plaster was rewarded with a trip to the bin.  My thumb and its nine sibblings preffered a trip to the beach and to Brechfa Forest to celebrate its new found freedom and to give it a proper welsh, wet and cold,  dry run.  Its lasted better than my lungs which were struggling with my second festive bout of man flu.  I also managed to get out and take some pics, most of which involved me either lying on the ground or hanging over cliff ledges.  Adrenaline photograpgy. I think I may have invented a new extreme sport.  Roll on Spring and proper warm weather.
